Living in St. Louis

Whether you are a sports fan, a music lover or a history buff, you will find much to do in St. Louis. Hear live music every night at one of the many restaurants and clubs downtown, indulge in some downhome St. Louis barbecue or spend the day taking in some unique culture.

HISTORIC HIGHLIGHTS

Grant's Farm
Now a wildlife preserve, this farm belonged to and was built by Ulysses S. Grant, in 1856. Bison, elk, antelope, llamas, ostriches and zebras can be seen at the Deer Park. The Clydesdales, made famous by yearly Budweiser commercials, graze in the pastures, and the Tier Garten Amphitheater features entertainment.

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site
This renowned historic location features more than nine acres once owned by former president and Civil War general Ulysses S. Grant, with historical structures, a visitor's center and bookstore.

Walk of Fame
Forget Hollywood! Stroll along the stars and plaques on the sidewalks of the University City Loop that recognize St. Louis cultural icons such as Maya Angelou, Charles Lindbergh, Miles Davis, Tina Turner, T.S. Eliot, Chuck Berry, Bob Costas and John Goodman.

Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center
Visitors can witness reenactments of the river journey of two of the world's most famous explorers and see replicas of the original boats. Also featured are hands-on and interactive exhibits, and a nature center.

MUSEUMS AND CULTURE

City Museum
This museum houses gardens, historical artifacts, art and scientific exhibits. Don't miss the 35,000-gallon aquarium, the Mechanical Wonder World and the glass studio.

St. Louis Car Museum and Sales
Car lovers flock to see the variety of die-cast models, muscle cars and vintage automobiles, all contained on five acres. The collection is ever-changing, as select models are for sale and some lucky visitors drive off in their dream car.

St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium
The Science Center boasts opportunities to experience an earthquake, virtual reality exhibits, dinosaurs and an Omnimax theater. Eat at the Galaxy Café, peruse the Science shop and take the skywalk that connects to the McDonnell Planetarium.

Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House and Education Center
Thousands of exotic butterflies are in their element in a beautiful flower garden in the Butterfly Conservancy. Outdoors is a sculpture garden, along with the Native Butterfly Habitat and Teaching Gardens that feature native butterflies and plants.

St. Louis Zoo
More than 6,000 animals in natural habitats call this zoo home. Attractions include a children's zoo, New River's Edge and Insectarium, the Jungle of the Apes, Big Cat Country and the Zooline Railroad. This is a prime attraction for the kids.

Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis
The Contemporary Art Museum building itself is a work of art. It houses both permanent and visiting collections of the most cutting-edge art the world has to offer. Stylish dining from Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events can be enjoyed at the Tempt café.

ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

Busch Stadium
If you can't catch a Cardinals game or a premiere concert event, tour the stadium, where the Beatles played one of their final shows. Tours begin at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame/St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame, which represents two of the city's favorite sports, bowling and baseball.

Kiener Plaza
Sports fans and the working crowd alike meet at this plaza for lunch and relaxation with friends. Concerts are featured, as well as an amphitheater and a fountain.

Fox Theater
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this decorative theater plays host to Broadway shows, jazz and rock concerts, and dance performances. Tours of the theater feature an antique organ and exquisite architecture.

BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups
Voted the number one jazz and blues nightclub in St. Louis, BB's offers a full bar and a menu specializing in Cajun cuisine. The club features some of the finest musicians, such as Henry Townsend and Roosevelt Sykes.

Jazz at the Bistro
Classic American cuisine and world-class jazz musicians fuse for an amazing experience at the Bistro. Live jazz is featured biweekly from Wednesday to Saturday on evenings from September to June.

Mississippi Nights
This large concert club presents live music from nearly every genre, played by both well-known and up-and-coming artists. In the past, U2 and the Police have rocked the stage.
