Events in Salt Lake City

January
Sundance Film Festival - The 10-day Sundance Film Festival invades Salt Lake City. Founded in 1981 by actor/director/producer Robert Redford, this event attracts fans, hopefuls and Hollywood insiders scouting for talent. Movies that play well here have often become blockbusters and Oscar winners.

February
IFMA Freestyle Motocross - Speed lovers will want to pack into the Delta Center Stadium to watch daredevil motorcycle jumpers and stuntmen perform tricks and terrifying jumps.

May
Days of '47 - This is an exciting event honoring Utah pioneers and running May through July at assorted venues. Kicking off with the Royalty Pageant, events include a rodeo and other equestrian activities, a pops concert and one of Utah's biggest, oldest parades, with floats, bands, clowns and more.

June
Utah Arts Festival - Each year, Salt Lake City celebrates this festival in a different part of the city. It features contemporary juried art and two stages of live bands and visual performances. Also featured are art booths, children's activities and an Artists Marketplace.

July
Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival - Held at Washington Square, this festival showcases live jazz from local and internationally known musicians and bands on multiple stages. Food and beverage vendors, workshops and clinics, and a festival store are also featured.

August
Utah Belly Dance Festival - This weekend festival sponsored by the Salt Lake Arts Council and Kismet Dance Company includes middle-Eastern food and an impressive display of belly dancing.

September
Reggae in the Mountains - This festival of great live music and entertainment is held at the Gallivan Center and is a celebration of Caribbean culture. Enjoy the vibes while tasting the abundance of delicious Jamaican food that is available.

October
Run 4 Your Life - Run or walk behind a procession of black hearses at Main Street's Gallivan Center. This Halloween celebration includes a "monster" block party with fireworks, pumpkin contests, storytelling and trick-or-treating.

December
Festival of Trees - Held at Salt Lake City's South Towne Exposition Center, this event celebrates Christmas and the festive spirit in all its forms, including gingerbread castles, holiday crafts, Santa's grotto and more than 600 decorated trees.
