Events in Cincinnati

Cincinnati is home to a rich and diverse culture, and though its metropolitan area is not nearly as populous as some other American cities (just over 1 million call the Cincy metro area home, as opposed to more than 8 million for New York, for example), it nonetheless offers seemingly unlimited options for those willing to seek them out.

February
Cavalcade of Customs - Car and truck lovers will flock to this event that features hotrods, dragsters, custom vans and monster trucks.

March
International Wine Festival - This event features wines from all around the world, and includes luncheons and dinners as well as wine tastings and seminars.

Celtic Lands Culture Festival - Held downtown, this Irish festival features storytelling, dancing, Irish food and music, and arts and crafts. Admission is free.

April
Cincinnati Reds Opening Day - Put on your red baseball cap and celebrate the opening day for the nation's first professional baseball team.

May
Maifest - This traditional German festival celebrates spring and features wines and food with a German flair. Also featured are more than 90 arts and crafts booths, as well as live entertainment, including German and rock music.

International Festival - Held at McMicken Commons at the University of Cincinnati, this outdoor festival features cultural performances from around the world. Sample international food and shop the international merchandise vendors.

June
Cincinnati Fringe Festival - This festival features local, regional, national and international artists with more than 150 shows throughout the city over the span of 12 days. Celebrate the arts with dance, theater, music, poetry, the visual arts and film.

St. Veronica Annual Summer Festival - This family event offers games, rides and live entertainment. It also features a Sunday dinner, an award raffle and an auction. Admission is free.

July
Macy's Cincinnati Music Festival - This huge jazz festival now includes blues, hip-hop and R&B musicians from around the country. Held at Cingery Field, this three-day event also has street vendors selling food, beverages and merchandise.

August
River Days - This three-day event along the Ohio River features a cardboard boat race and other river-related events. River Days offers live entertainment, food and beer, crafts, fireworks, rides for the kids and gambling for adults.

Cincy Blues Festival - Held at Sawyer Park, the Cincy Blues Festival brings together local, regional and national musicians to perform on several different stages.

September
MidPoint Music Festival - The Midwest's largest music festival, this three-day event features regional, national and international musicians. The festival includes speakers, panels, workshops and exhibitions, all of them focused on music.

October
Cincinnati Flower and Farm Festival - Celebrate the harvest at this popular Cincinnati tradition held at Coney Island. The festival features floral displays, rides, market stalls and interactive exhibitions.

Oktoberfest - Six blocks of downtown Cincinnati becomes a German village highlighted by live entertainment. Naturally the more-than-50 food and beer vendors keep busy during this colorful event.

November
Festival of Lights - Kick off the holiday season at the Cincinnati Zoo. The place is decorated with 2 million colorful lights that are choreographed to holiday music. A 21-foot computer-controlled tree is decorated and ready for the holiday season. Other features include ice carving, seasonal foods, holiday characters and a holiday village.
