Living in Atlanta

In Atlanta, the people are as warm as the summer weather. The city has so much going on that every day can be a new and exciting experience. Get around on the city's public-transit system, the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), or take a walk through Underground Atlanta, where you will find shopping, dining and nightlife.

Underground Atlanta is built on the site of a Creek Indian Village and Trading Post, truly underneath the city streets. Take a tour of the CNN Studio or visit Atlanta-native Jimmy Carter's Presidential Library & Museum. Professional sports, fascinating historical sites and a cutting-edge music scene are all waiting to be discovered in Atlanta.

Take a look at the diversity Atlanta has to offer:

World of Coca-Cola
Tour exhibits, see classic ads, watch the bottling process and shop for souvenirs. Then taste Coca-Cola products from around the world and decide on your favorite. Kids love to take the tours and taste the soft drinks!

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame
Be inspired by this collection of 17 civil rights leaders' shoes on display, including those of Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall and Medgar Evers.

Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site

Atlanta Botanical Garden
Fifteen acres of outdoor gardens and one of the world's largest displays of tropical orchids are featured. The Botanical Garden includes the Fuqua Conservatory, which houses rare and endangered tropical and desert plants.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History
The Southeast's largest natural history museum, the Fernbank Museum, houses the world's largest dinosaurs. Hands-on exhibits, galleries and a 315-seat IMAX theater make this museum a must-see experience.

Six Flags Over Georgia Theme Park
Families, take notice! The second theme park in the Six Flags chain is just west of the city on I-20.

Stone Mountain Park
Georgia's most-visited attraction, the park is located just east of Atlanta. It boasts more than 3,300 acres and features a replica 1870s Southern town, Crossroads. Crossroads includes several attractions, live entertainment and Georgia's only 4-D theater. On the face of Stone Mountain are giant carvings of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. During the summer, laser shows are performed. This is an entertaining place for the entire family.
